4. Intellectual property and copyright
All original elements of HaemCalc — including calculator logic, formulae implementation, supporting text, layout, design, and source code — are owned by Dr Muhammad Mohsin and are protected by UK copyright under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and by equivalent laws in other countries.
Where HaemCalc cites or implements published clinical scoring systems, formulae, or guidelines, the underlying scientific work remains the property of the original authors and publishers. HaemCalc uses such material under fair-dealing for the purpose of education, criticism, and review.
See the IP & Copyright Notice for details and contact for rights queries.
5. Trade mark
"HaemCalc" is used as a brand name of Dr Muhammad Mohsin. You may not use the name HaemCalc, or anything confusingly similar, in a way that suggests endorsement, affiliation, or origin without prior written permission.
6. Third-party links and references
HaemCalc may link to external resources such as guideline bodies, journals, and reference sites. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.
7. Accuracy and currency
Clinical practice and reference ranges change. Although the calculator and supporting text are reviewed and curated, we do not warrant that all material is current, complete, or free of error. Always cross-check with the most recent national or international guidelines and with local protocols.
8. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.
Subject to that, to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- HaemCalc is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of, or inability to use, HaemCalc.
- We are not liable for clinical decisions made on the basis of HaemCalc outputs. Clinical responsibility rests with the treating clinician.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold the Owner harmless against any claim arising from your misuse of HaemCalc, breach of these terms, or any clinical decision made by you in reliance on the tool.
10. Privacy and cookies
Use of HaemCalc is subject to our Privacy Notice, which describes how any personal data is processed in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. HaemCalc itself is designed to operate without storing patient identifiers; users must not enter patient-identifiable data into any input field.
